How do I become a Freemason?
Membership is open to any man over the age of 18, irrespective of their race or religion. The first step is to either ask a friend, neighbour, colleague or acquaintance who is a Freemason at The Lodge of Dawn to propose you. If you do not know anyone in The Lodge of Dawn, please contact us; we can still invite you to join. Once you have been proposed and accepted you will undertake a series of three ceremonies known as ‘degrees’, after which you are officially a Master Mason. These Freemason’s ceremonies explain a moral and charitable approach to life. If you have any further questions about becoming a Freemason see ‘Seven Reasons to Join The Freemasons, our ‘how to join‘ page or our FAQs page.
What is Freemasonry?
Freemasonry means different things to different people. What is Freemasonry? It is a ‘fraternal’ society that offers friendship and togetherness as well as community fundraising and volunteering activities. It is one of the world’s largest charitable, non-religious and non-political organisations. For some it is a social activity and for others it is about making a contribution to society, whilst some want to be part of a long established, respected organisation and others find it a personal development opportunity. Whilst monthly meetings are formal there are also social events, providing an occasion for members to dine together and socialise. The Lodge of Dawn also arranges external activities and a range of social events which involve spouses, partners and families.
If all of the above sounds of interest to you, we’d like to talk to you. Please get in contact here and we’ll get back in touch asap.
