The December meeting of the Lodge saw the visit of the Provincial Grand Master; the most senior Freemason in the masonic area (the Province of Yorkshire, West Riding). Not only is a visit by the PGM an honour for any lodge, it is a rarity for The Lodge of Dawn, as the last visit by a sitting PGM was back in 1996, 27 years ago.
In addition to the visit of the PGM, the ceremony saw the IPM (Immediate Past Master) having to sit in to replace the Worshipful Master who was unavailable due to a happy family occasion. At the end of the ceremony The Lodge of Dawn presented the PGM with a cheque for £2000 to be donated to the on-going MCF 2028 Festival.
With all of the above happening, the Lodge was happy to initiate our third new member of the year, Arel Goldstein. Arel, who initially contacted the lodge through the website, is a physiotherapist, but we also learned, during the speeches at the festive board, that he is also a former Naval battleship commander !
With 14 guests in attendance, and a festive meal of turkey and christmas pudding, the evening was an excellent way to round up a very successful 2023.
Pictured below are the officers of The Lodge of Dawn plus those that delivered ritual in the ceremony alongside Arel and The Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother James Henry Newman, PGM.
