Whilst 22/02/22 was a notable numeric date, for The Lodge of Dawn it was a highly notable date in the history of the lodge. For the first time since inauguration 75 years ago, the lodge hosted a full Provincial visit.
Led by VW Bro. John Boyington, CBE, The DepPGM in Charge, 41 Acting Provincial Lodge officers from the Province of Yorkshire, West Riding attended what was a Second Degree ceremony (for the passing of Bro Ben Furnell). W Bro. Higgins and his team delivered an exemplary ceremony.
Perhaps the highlight of the evening was Charity Steward, W Bro. Michael Rose delivering his charity report at the Festive Board, in front of the assembled Provincial visitors, in a pair of rabbit ears! Whilst not a recognised part of Masonic regalia, W Bro. Rose had previously won them at a Festive Board raffle on the Lodge’s visit to Dublin, and had been challenged, in exchange for a charitable donation, to wear them. His challenge raised £275 from the 13 brethren who were on the Dublin trip. Along with a cheque of £2,000, the £275 was donated to VW Bro. John Boyington for the West Riding Masonic Charities fund.
The festive board was enjoyed by over 85 brethren and worshipful brethren.
