The Lodge of Dawn are delighted to announce that we have sponsored yet another grant via West Riding Masonic Charities Ltd to support charitable efforts in our local community.
The grant, for £2067 is going to the community youth project, The Zone, in Alwoodley, North Leeds. The grant will be used for a CPOMS (a child protection online monitoring system) and the setting-up of a safe space for young people to access resources relating to mental health and wellbeing.
Raina Sheaf, CEO said “On behalf of everyone at The Zone, I would like to thank you and the The Lodge of Dawn, West Riding Masonic Charities Ltd and all of the Freemasons of Yorkshire, for the grant recently awarded to us. This grant will positively impact the wellbeing and mental health of young people in our locality.”
“After such uncertainty over recent times, it is reassuring for us to know that grant funders recognise the value and importance of our work. During the pandemic we created a new hybrid schedule, a secure and confidential chatline, hosted wellbeing workshops and launched online support platforms for inter-generational activities, teenagers, university students and parents.”
Michael Rose, Charity Steward for The Lodge of Dawn said “we are delighted to support a cause that is close to the hearts of many of the members, and the families of members, of The Lodge of Dawn, and geographically is on our doorstep. Charitable giving and supporting the community are key parts of what makes Freemasonry the force for good that it is”.
Over the last decade The Zone has developed into one of the country’s leading community youth projects, offering state of the art facilities and activities led by our quality team of youth workers, volunteers and leadership participants. The Zone strive to ensure our members continually learn about their heritage and cultural identity.
