Following the success of the first monthly lodge dog walk, Sunday 17th December saw the second monthly dog walk of the year for the Lodge of Dawn, with a larger group than the previous month.
Whereas last month’s walk was in bright but a bit wet conditions, this time it was woolly hats, scarves and gloves as the week’s biting, freezing temperatures continued. Noah the Labrador, Barney the Spaniel, Douglas the Bearded Collie, Harvey & Parker the flat coated Retrievers, Maisie the Golden Labrador and Darcey the Cockerpoo along with their owners, together with two dogless brothers and the month’s new initiate, enjoyed a walk around Hetchell Woods in North Leeds.
After the walk, dogs and owners retired for a well deserved recuperation at the New Inn pub on Wetherby Road. Hot coffees plus the odd sherry, brandy and pint ended a lovely morning.
We’ll be doing it all again at the end of January at a different location, when more of the lodge dogs will bring their owners with them.
