St George’s Crypt have also built a range of social enterprises in retail and catering, offering development and training opportunities to our homeless and vulnerable clients.
This charity is the chosen charity this year of The Lodge of Dawn’s Worshipful Master, Rob Phillips. W Bro Phillips is particularly taken by this charity and wishes to support it as best he can, having visited just before Christmas to see the important work that they do in the Leeds community. After visiting St George’s Crypt, W Bro. Phillips said “It is a terrible indictment on our society that a city with the wealth of Leeds needs a charity like St Georges Crypt to ensure that 100+ of its citizens, many of whom have had the most appalling starts to their lives, have food in their bellies.”
To date, The Lodge of Dawn has raised over £1000 for the charity. £700 came from the lodge members and their guests from the Pre-Valentine’s Ball held in February, along with a very generous £60 donated by the band, Kolton, on the night. In addition a further £442 was collected at the February monthly meeting from the brethren plus a further £55 donation from the Leeds Masters in attendance.
